And the last set of photographs from France. Our Marie-Grace and Paloma (Kish doll) visited an Exhibition of Raynal dolls in Hatten, Alsace. We came across it accidentally but just imagine how pleased were my daughter and I! It is a personal collection of a very nice French lady called Nathalie. She has collected these dolls over the years and is very passionate about them. She told us stories of some of the dolls and it was all very interesting, especially given that I had never heard about these dolls before.
The earlier of Raynal dolls are made of cloth (from the first half of the 1930s) and those are my favorites. Later, starting from 1935, they were made of plastic composition materials. Some of these dolls have flirty eyes which, I must say, I have never seen before – very interesting. I got so interested in Raynal dolls that I even bought a book in French (the language I hardly speak) about them from the museum shop!
One of the dolls in the exhibition was a one hundred years old Mattel doll!
