This dress is supposed to be for Marie (in some versions, Klara) from the Nutcracker story. I have taken quite a number of girls’ dresses from the end of the 19th century as an example and have come up with a stylized simplified version of them.
The dress is made of white silk dupioni with a cotton batiste lining and underskirt. The pantaloons are also made of the same cotton batiste. The dress closes at back with 4 snaps.
My lovely Etheldreda was more than happy to transform into a girl from the Nutcracker!
