Emily – Australian Girl doll

I have finally got around to showing this girl though I’ve had her for 2 or 3 months already! I have another Australian Girl in my collection, and here is my review of her. I may repeat myself, however, when I talk about this new beauty.

So, this is Emily, one of the 5 Australian Girl dolls on the market (the other ones being Annabelle (Belle), Matilda, Amy and Jasmine). This is the 2nd edition of Emily and I bought her on pre-order (before I managed to find my dream doll Amy!).  All Australian Girl dolls are 50 cm tall. Their eyes can close. And their hair is a beautiful Kanekalon wig.

Emily comes in a new type of box with a window (the old box didn’t have it).

The doll is safely secured in the box with ribbons.

In the box there is an extra pair of pretty white flip-flops with daisies – because Australian Girl dolls can actually wear them (because they are Australian, as it is explained on the box!).

Just look at this beauty! Isn’t she lovely!

Emily’s hair comes in a ponytail and it is very long and thick.

Emily’s gorgeous boots.

Here is what Emily’s body looks like. The lower half of her body is soft (just like American Girl dolls’ bodies), the rest is vinyl. Which is great because she can wear open tops and they will look beautiful on her.

Emily’s outfit is very well made. The shirt closes with snaps (everyone knows how much I dislike velcro in doll clothing!!). The jeans close with a snap and velcro, but I have no issues with the velcro here. The only thing is that I don’t think yellow suits Emily that much, so I will try a different colour on her.

I love both of these dolls, though my favourite is still Amy. Emily still hasn’t told me her name so she will have to stay Emily for a while.

  1. Another pretty girl comes to live at your house! I really like this style of body with just partial cloth, I really don’t like the American Girl style with all cloth body because I hate that you can see the cloth at the neckline and in my humble opinion, they don’t look attractive in strappy summer clothes…which is important to me. The Australian Girl design is much nicer 🙂
I love those boots too, what a great design! I think I also prefer the darker skinned girl, but this one is really sweet looking too 🙂

    1. Thank you, Sharon! I totally agree about the cloth body. I do happen to like American Girl dolls and they seem to multiply in our house in geometrical progression, but the cloth body is definitely not very attractive. It also means, dolls can only move their heads to the right or left, but not up or down, which limits the poseability.
