Tinka in the summer snow

It sounds absurd – “the summer snow” – and yes, it is precisely that! A pile of snow from a nearby ice rink in the middle of July! Having lived in the tropics for the last 13 years, it is a miracle for us to see snow, so we had to grab the opportunity and take photos of Tinka in whatever snow I managed to find!!

The sweater, the scarf, the hat and the mittens, of course, were knitted by my mum.

Tinka had lots of fun in the snow. She even built a snowman (well, sort of)!

  3. These are great photos Olga, I love the outfit that your mum knitted, she does make you some beautiful things 🙂
The snow looks great, snow makes for such brilliant photos….but I have to admit that I’m fine with other people having it and NOT me!!! 😉 I really am such a wimp when it comes to the cold, give me summertime over winter any day of the year!
    Hugs SHaron x

    1. Thank you so much, Sharon! Well, it seems to me that my idea of a joint business with my mum is not quite working the way I thought. I don’t have problems with letting go of most of my outfits, but I do with my mum’s!! This set was intended for Etsy, too. The trouble was, as I explained earlier (in Russian) that Tinka fell head down after the last photo – and got herself into a muddy puddle where the snow was melting. She was fine, but the hat and one of the mittens got muddy. My mum washed them and they are now as good as new, but I wouldn’t sell something which I know is not perfect. So, this set decided to stay with us all on its own!! http://www.swish-swirl.com/wp-content/plugins/wp-monalisa/icons/wpml_yahoo.gif

Ha-ha, yes, I know lots of English people in Singapore who would hate going back to the UK weather. For myself, 13 years in the tropics have changed me in a way nobody had expected. usually people get used to the heat. Well, I started with not liking the heat (I still remember arriving here in January 2002 from London, stepping out of the airport and struggling for breath as it was unbearably hot – I have never liked the tropics ever since that torturing moment!), but I could cope with it in the beginning. We could go out for walks in the Botanic Gardens, Zoo, Bird park, etc. However, 3 children later I found that I can’t tolerate the heat at all. Now I don’t go out for longer than 5-10 mins unless I fancy getting a fierce migraine! So, going back to the cold climate would be a blessing for all of us (my children don’t like having PE at school in the heat either!). I would be perfectly happy not to have summer ever at all!!
