My mum made this Russian dress many years ago for my daughter’s Carpatina doll, but I think it looks beautiful on A Girl for All Time Matilda, too! So, here is my faithful time-traveller and Russian beauty! More photos are in the gallery below:
Continuing with the Outlander theme, I have also managed to take proper photos of my Jamie Fraser (Iplehouse EID Leonard, custom face-up by Cristy Stone). His first outfit is not finished yet (the stockings, the belt, the sporran, the overcoat and even the sword and the dirk are still to come), but he is dressed […]
Here are some photos of Jamie and Claire Fraser as they are now. I will take better ones – with more clothes on Claire, for one thing! – with background and all that, but these were the first photos trying to figure out this couple, how they pose, and so on. More photos are below:
The next item of Jamie’s outfit is going to be his brown waistcoat which is present in almost every scene of the TV series (with a few exceptions). I have decided to show a few sneak peek photographs of the process as I am very excited myself at how it is coming out! Here is […]
Before I start on the process of the kilt making, I would like to show finished shirts for Jamie. Both were made from exactly the same fabric but I dyed the pieces of the everyday shirt in white tea to give it a more worn look. The shirts with stocks. Now, to the great kilt. […]
My gorgeous Indira loves wearing traditional Indian outfits. This one is a Peshawari dress which is a three-piece set consisting of pants, tunic and scarf. The scarf is always worn with the ends thrown at the back. This outfit was NOT made by me. I saw it at one of the recent fairs in Singapore […]
Some more photographs of my beautiful Anika in a Russian outfit. The traditional Russian costume was made and hand-embroidered by Ariadne. The shawl is vintage, my mum has found it among the doll clothes I had as a child. Nobody can remember who knitted it but it might have easily been my grandmother (I would love to […]
This is one of my favourite series of photographs I have ever taken. I tried to recreate some Russian atmosphere in these photos. My Anika is dressed in a traditional Russian costume made and hand-embroidered by Ariadne and kindly given to me for the holidays. The pile of logs was recreated by my father (!!). The […]
To celebrate Oktoberfest my friend Ariadne made some traditional dirndl dresses for Gotz and American Girl dolls – two in blue and two in pink. My daughters’ American Girl dolls got one of each, too. Each outfit consists of a blouse, dirndl dress and an apron. The dresses are modeled by our American Girl doll McKenna […]
Do you think my dolls could spend some time in Russia and not wear traditional Russian dresses? Of course, they couldn’t! I made both of these dresses in advance and brought them with me. Both consist of traditional long white blouses with embroidery, red sarafans and red ribbons in their hair.
In the beginning of February, right before the Chinese New Year, which is widely celebrated here in Singapore, I made this Chinese-inspired outfit for my Hannah doll: a blue brocade Chinese blouse and white linen trousers (the pattern for the trousers is coming soon).
This is the very outfit I mentioned in the previous post. I loved it so much that I thought I would buy the doll that looked so beautiful in it! And I also hoped one day I might sew something similar for my doll. The dress was fully made by a girl called Alla. It […]
When my daughter was about 4, her favourite film was a Russian fairy tale Father Frost (Morozko). The main heroine in that film is a very sweet and kind girl Nastenka (or Anastasia). My daugther dreamt of having a doll in a traditional Russian dress that would look just like her. So, my mum made a dress […]
